Is stopping ransomware Mission Impossible?

Webinar In April this year the Costa Rican Government declared a national emergency because of a ransomware attack that brought the Ministry of Finance to the edge, and bludgeoned private as well as public import/export services. In May a second attack decapitated its national healthcare service.

The previous January, officials in the largest county in New Mexico had also woken up to a paralysing ransomware attack which took several county departments and government offices offline.

These incidents show that the ambition and reach of cyber criminals using ransomware to extort money is clearly evolving and growing. So it’s vital that organizations are equally determined to stop these attacks in their tracks.

Join the Register’s Tim Phillips and Red Canary’s Kelly Horsford on 30 November 4pm GMT/11am EDT/8am PDT as they explore the key ransomware trends from the Red Canary Threat Intelligence Report. They’ll tell you where to look to detect pre-ransomware activity, how to identify it, and how managed detection and response (MDR) can supplement your organization’s current ransomware defence.

Ransomware bad actors might like their attacks to be highly visible but their creeping about in the shadows while they weaponize for incursion is another matter. Catching pre-ransomware activity is vital and can stop the attack from taking place.

Register for our “Nipping ransomware in the bud” webinar here and we will send you a reminder.
