which will be reviewed annually &#8220;to ensure it keeps pace with the needs and offerings of the quickly evolving telecommunications technology&#8221; &#8212; would support the state&#8217;s digital transformation.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;NSW agencies still have the flexibility of choice as well as the confidence of Optus&#8217; enterprise grade solutions,&#8221; Optus Business managing director John Paitaridis said.<\/p>\n<p>According to the state&#8217;s chief information and digital officer Greg Wells, partnerships with companies like Optus are &#8220;critical to realising the NSW government&#8217;s digital strategy&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The NSW government had in May <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zdnet.com\/article\/cloud-procurement-first-up-for-nsw-governments-buy-nsw-platform\/\" target=\"_blank\">kicked off buy.nsw<\/a>, a single platform for its procurement, with the first opportunity across cloud applications.<\/p>\n<p>Optus had also been chosen to provide <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zdnet.com\/article\/optus-extends-managed-services-contract-with-government-department-for-au13-6m\/\" target=\"_blank\">managed services for the federal government<\/a>, last year signing a AU$13.6 million three-year contract extension with the Australian Department of Agriculture and Water Resources with an emphasis on digital transformation.<\/p>\n<p>Under that contract, Optus will continue delivering mobile, data, and voice services across the 5,500 mobile and tablet devices used by the federal government department, along with managed telephone, video conferencing, Skype for Business, and a contact centre solution for the department&#8217;s 150 sites.<\/p>\n<section class=\"sharethrough-top\" data-component=\"medusaContentRecommendation\" data-medusa-content-recommendation-options=\"{&quot;promo&quot;:&quot;promo_ZD_recommendation_sharethrough_top_in_article_desktop&quot;,&quot;spot&quot;:&quot;dfp-in-article&quot;}\">\n<\/section>\n<p>Optus Business is focused on delivering communications services for government, in June 2017 announcing that it would be offering its secure <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zdnet.com\/article\/optus-to-offer-cloud-solution-to-government-departments\/\">private cloud service to multiple Australian government agencies<\/a> under a deal with Canberra Data Centres (CDC).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zdnet.com\/article\/optus-business-adds-cybersecurity-capabilities-to-managed-services\/\">Optus Business added cybersecurity<\/a> prevention, detection, and monitoring capabilities to its managed security services portfolio in September last year.<\/p>\n<p>Optus also announced extending its satellite communications <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zdnet.com\/article\/optus-satellite-signs-au40m-department-of-defence-contract-extension\/\">partnership with the Department of Defence<\/a> in June last year for the next 10 years for AU$40 million, involving a reconfiguration of the C1 satellite.<\/p>\n<p>Optus&#8217; FY17 financial results announcement in May saw the telco bring in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zdnet.com\/article\/optus-doubles-nbn-customers-as-mobile-subs-hit-10-million\/\" target=\"_blank\">operating revenue of AU$1.5 billion<\/a> across its enterprise business, up by 1.2 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Optus Business ICT and managed services grew by 3.5 percent to AU$632 million, which Optus said was due to growth across its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zdnet.com\/article\/optus-business-injects-au3-5m-in-cybersecurity-research-centre\/\">cybersecurity<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zdnet.com\/article\/optus-to-offer-cloud-solution-to-government-departments\/\">cloud<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zdnet.com\/article\/optus-partners-with-broadsoft-on-cloud-telephony\/\">unified communications<\/a> offerings; data and IP remained fairly stable, at AU$322 million; voice dropped by 5.7 percent to AU$305 million, although the telco said this was less than the industry decline; and mobile rose by 5.4 percent to AU$288 million.<\/p>\n<p>The carrier had cited &#8220;major ICT contract wins&#8221;, having signed managed services deals during the financial year with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zdnet.com\/article\/optus-signs-managed-services-deal-with-hoyts\/\">Hoyts<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zdnet.com\/article\/optus-to-provide-managed-services-for-hastings-deering\/\">Hastings Deering<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zdnet.com\/article\/optus-go-enterprise-it-suite-launches\/\">launched Optus Go<\/a>, a suite of &#8220;simplified&#8221; enterprise IT solutions across connectivity, collaboration, and cloud, in February; and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zdnet.com\/article\/optus-announces-broadsoft-wholesale-ucaas-solution\/\">announced Cloud-UCX<\/a>, a cloud-based unified-communications-as-a-service (UCaaS) solution for service providers in partnership with BroadSoft, in September.<\/p>\n<p>Optus additionally pointed to its Internet of Things (IoT) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zdnet.com\/article\/optus-rolls-out-smart-cells-for-sydney-botanic-garden\/\">partnership with the Royal Botanic Garden<\/a> Sydney to roll out smart cells across smart nodes to provide free Wi-Fi, electric vehicle charge points, smart lighting, and ranger assist buttons.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Optus updates Perth stadium<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Earlier this week, Optus also announced installing more than 1,200 Bluetooth beacons in its Perth stadium, also upgrading the Optus Stadium App to help direct users to their seats.<\/p>\n<p>The technology will additionally provide real-time data and analytics on stadium usage to management.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Optus Stadium App connects via Bluetooth to deliver real-time indoor wayfinding, similar to Google Maps, to help fans find their seating, locate amenities, and access the closest food and beverage outlets,&#8221;
