Unlike general health wearables, the $449 device, which is <span class=\"c-commerceLink\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cc.zdnet.com\/v1\/otc\/00hQi47eqnEWQ6T9d4QLBUc?merchant=05u4BCvDw3qSZ3LgVgh1twj&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.myperi.co%2Fshopify-page\" rel=\"noopener nofollow sponsored\" target=\"_blank\"><span>now available to preorder<\/span><!----><\/a><\/span>, is chiefly designed for those experiencing perimenopause, the transitional period before menopause that typically lasts anywhere between three and 12 years.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Nonintrusive device<\/h2>\n<p>The device looks similar to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zdnet.com\/article\/i-compared-an-ai-glucose-monitor-with-a-traditional-monitor-for-2-weeks-here-are-my-results\/\">continuous glucose monitor<\/a> (though Peri&#8217;s sensor is nonintrusive, it attaches near the stomach, and there are no needles involved). It tracks perimenopause signals and captures data like body temperature, sleep, and cycle information, according to Peri&#8217;s website. At CES, I saw that Peri is similarly sized &#8211; if not a little bigger &#8211; than your typical CGM and is less flexible in build.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The device is packaged with four sensors: PPG for blood flow, accelerometer for movement, EDA for measuring skin electricity, and a temperature sensor.
