World Leaks <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theregister.com\/2025\/04\/02\/hunters_international_rebrand\/\">used to be called Hunters International<\/a> until recently, when it shifted its focus to pure data theft and extortion, ditching the ransomware piece. They have no qualms about attacking organizations providing critical services, including healthcare, and employing vile tactics to force payment.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A couple of years ago, they stole health insurance and diagnosis info from about <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theregister.com\/2025\/05\/30\/fred_hutch_cancer_center_commits\/\">800,000 cancer patients<\/a> at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, then threatened to SWAT patients who didn&#8217;t pay up, and <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theregister.com\/2023\/10\/25\/rebuilt_hive_ransomware_gang_stings\/\">leaked<\/a> sensitive pre-op images of patients they nabbed from a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon&#8217;s office. They also claim to have stolen data belonging to <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theregister.com\/2024\/09\/11\/hunters_ransom_icbc_london\/\">the London branch<\/a> of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) and <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theregister.com\/2025\/03\/05\/tata_technologies_hiunters_international\/\">Tata Technologies<\/a>. \u00ae<\/p>\n<p> READ
