Google Wallet<\/a> is expanding its support for official state IDs again, and it is adding a new way to verify your age while keeping your identity safe.<\/p>\n

Soon, residents in Arkansas, Montana, Puerto Rico, and West Virginia will be able to save their official government-issued digital ID cards, like a driver’s license, to Google Wallet. Support for government IDs is already available in California<\/a>, Maryland, Arizona, Colorado<\/a>, New Mexico, and Georgia.  <\/p>\n

Also: <\/strong>Google Wallet’s latest feature is a game-changer for both parents and kids<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

You can use the Google Wallet version of your ID at the DMV, at certain airport TSA locations provided it is a Real ID (if you do not have a Real ID, you can add your passport<\/a>), and at other locations.  <\/p>\n

How to add your license to Google Wallet<\/h2>\n

To add your license to Google Wallet, open the app and tap “Add to Wallet” at the bottom. You will see a list of available options. Choose “ID Card” and follow the instructions, which include taking photos of the front and back of your ID, and a short video of yourself.  <\/p>\n

Also: <\/strong>Google Wallet now alerts you to loyalty card benefits you’re missing out on<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Google warns that a digital version of your ID card should not be considered a replacement, and you should always have your physical card with you. <\/p>\n

New uses for your Wallet ID are on the way, including online health services with CVS and MyChart by Epic, verifying your profile on platforms like Uber<\/a>, and more. <\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Verifying your age<\/h2>\n

In addition, Google is working on a system for Wallet that lets you verify your age while maintaining your privacy. <\/p>\n

Many sites and services these days require a check of your license to verify how old you are, but Google is adding “Zero Knowledge Proof” technology to Wallet. With ZKP, you will be able to prove your age across a number of devices, apps, and websites without revealing your personal information. <\/p>\n

For apps like Bumble, Google says, you can use the ID side of Wallet to prove your identity and the ZKP side to prove your age. <\/p>\n
