The Doom CAPTCHA might take the title for most fun, though.<\/p>\n<p>That is, if you can cope with Doom on nightmare mode, the highest difficulty, which makes the demonic enemies harder to kill and more aggressive. Your correspondent did manage it on the first try, once we remembered that it&#8217;s not immediately obvious how to strafe, and was left with a meager 19 percent health and a suitably bloodied and battered status bar face. Only id Software&#8217;s <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/id-Software\/DOOM\">Doom game engine is open source<\/a>, the game data \u2013 maps, textures, sprites, etc. \u2013 are not, but all look present and correct here.<\/p>\n<p>As <em>The Register<\/em> noted last year, OpenAI&#8217;s <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theregister.com\/2024\/03\/11\/gpt4_wont_run_doom\/\" rel=\"noopener\">GPT-4 is capable of playing the game \u2013 badly<\/a>. Give it a few years, though, and similar AI models may make mincemeat of Doom on nightmare.
