They might reveal the plaintext of encrypted emails, including encrypted emails sent in the past. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/efail?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#efail<\/a> 1\/4<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Sebastian Schinzel (@seecurity) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/seecurity\/status\/995906576170053633?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 14, 2018<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>A second Tweet warns \u201cThere are currently no reliable fixes for the vulnerability. If you use PGP\/GPG or S\/MIME for very sensitive communication, you should disable it in your email client for now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Schnizel and his fellow researchers have alerted a few folks about the problem, among them the Electronic Frontier Foundation which has assessed his research and agreed that PGP has flaws.<\/p>\n<p>An EFF <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.eff.org\/deeplinks\/2018\/05\/attention-pgp-users-new-vulnerabilities-require-you-take-action-now\">advisory<\/a> says \u201cthese vulnerabilities pose an immediate risk to those using these tools for email communication, including the potential exposure of the contents of past messages.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"promo_article no_img\">\n<h2 title=\"Someone's impersonating the likes of Linus Torvalds with attacks via keyservers\">PGP admins: Kill short keys now, or Alice will become Chuck<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theregister.co.uk\/2016\/08\/17\/pgp_admins_kill_short_keys_now_or_alice_will_become_chuck\/\"><span>READ MORE<\/span><\/a><\/div>\n<p>\u201cOur advice, which mirrors that of the researchers, is to immediately disable and\/or uninstall tools that automatically decrypt PGP-encrypted email,\u201d the EFF\u2019s post said. It also name dEnigmail for Thunderbird, GPGTools for Apple Mail and Gpg4win for Outlook as worthy of disablement, and offers instructions on how to do so.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUntil the flaws described in the paper are more widely understood and fixed, users should arrange for the use of alternative end-to-end secure channels, such as Signal, and temporarily stop sending and especially reading
