The ransom demand includes only an email address, officials wrote.<!-- --><\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section data-component=\"text-block\" class=\"sc-4e574cd-0 bhtqwj\" readability=\"4\">\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">As most of the targeted hospitals have recent backups of data from the affected servers, it is expected that the facilities should be able to bounce back fairly rapidly.<!-- --><\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section data-component=\"text-block\" class=\"sc-4e574cd-0 bhtqwj\" readability=\"6\">\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">But the impact on patients is likely to be profound as dozens more hospitals have had to switch off internet connected devices as a precaution. This could, in theory, affect not just booking and records but also machines like MRI scanners.<!-- --><\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section data-component=\"text-block\" class=\"sc-4e574cd-0 bhtqwj\" readability=\"2.3157894736842\">\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">The UK experienced a similar attack in 2017 which <!-- --><a target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/technology-41753022\" class=\"sc-c9299ecf-0 bZUiKB\" rel=\"noopener\">disrupted 80 out of 236 hospital trusts<!-- --><\/a> across England and caused nearly 7000 appointments to be cancelled or rearranged. <!-- --><\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section data-component=\"text-block\" class=\"sc-4e574cd-0 bhtqwj\" readability=\"4\">\n<p class=\"sc-eb7bd5f6-0 fYAfXe\">Following that incident the NHS accepted that there were &#8220;lessons to be learned&#8221;, and made a number of changes.<!-- --><\/p>\n<\/section>\n<p><!--$!--><!--\/$--><\/p>\n<section
