said Phillip Angel, head of FOI casework at the ICO.<\/p>\n<p>He said GMP had &#8220;done little&#8221; to help overcome the response backlog and the force needs to improve response times to FOI requests, as well as clear the backlog.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;While we recognise that an action plan has been put in place and some progress has been made to improve its timelines since the issuing of the Practice Recommendations, we are not seeing the improvement both we and the public need to see at the pace we need to see it,&#8221; In August, an <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theregister.com\/2023\/08\/09\/psni_data_breach\/\" rel=\"noopener\">FOI blunder in Northern Ireland<\/a> exposed a spreadsheet containing details of every serving officer in the country, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theregister.com\/2023\/08\/14\/cumbrian_police_accidentally_published_officer_details_online\/?td=rt-3a\" rel=\"noopener\">Cumbria Police<\/a> also unwittingly disclosed officers&#8217; personal information, then <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theregister.com\/2023\/08\/15\/norfolk_and_suffolk_police_data_breach\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Norfolk and Suffolk constabularies<\/a> made an error when posting raw crime data as part of an FOI request.<\/p>\n<p>Just last week, the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theregister.com\/2023\/12\/13\/mod_bcc_email_fine\/\" rel=\"noopener\">ICO fined the Ministry of Defense<\/a> for a BCC mistake that endangered the lives of Afghan interpreters looking to escape the clutches of the Taliban when US and British troops pulled out of the country. \u00ae<\/p>\n<p> place, which is already in motion, enabling us to respond timely to incoming requests, while managing an unprecedented volume of requests in recent years.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He said it has &#8220;introduced a robust action plan&#8221; that involves new practices and processes&#8221; and &#8220;reprioritising existing force resources into the team, as well as recruiting new
