This info, according to the crooks, included contracts and legal documents, personal details belonging to employees and members, financial and insurance information, geological files, and &#8220;much other confidential and sensitive information.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The cyber-crime gang has given the IJC ten days to respond to its ransom demand, or it may make the swiped info public.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"adun\" data-pos=\"top\" data-raptor=\"falcon\" data-xsm=\",fluid,mpu,\" data-sm=\",fluid,mpu,\" data-md=\",fluid,mpu,\"> <noscript> <a href=\"https:\/\/pubads.g.doubleclick.net\/gampad\/jump?co=1&amp;iu=\/6978\/reg_security\/cybercrime&amp;sz=300x50%7C300x100%7C300x250%7C300x251%7C300x252%7C300x600%7C300x601&amp;tile=4&amp;c=44ZQbV1sn6LSFa6v@fvs5-8wAAARA&amp;t=ct%3Dns%26unitnum%3D4%26raptor%3Dfalcon%26pos%3Dmid%26test%3D0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pubads.g.doubleclick.net\/gampad\/ad?co=1&amp;iu=\/6978\/reg_security\/cybercrime&amp;sz=300x50%7C300x100%7C300x250%7C300x251%7C300x252%7C300x600%7C300x601&amp;tile=4&amp;c=44ZQbV1sn6LSFa6v@fvs5-8wAAARA&amp;t=ct%3Dns%26unitnum%3D426raptor%3Dfalcon%26pos%3Dmid%26test%3D0\" alt> <\/a> <\/noscript> <\/div>\n<p>&#8220;If management continues to remain silent and does not take the step to negotiate with us, all data will be published,&#8221; the NoEscape leak notice threatened. &#8220;We have more than 50,000 confidential files, and if they become public, a new wave of problems will be colossal. For now, we will not disclose this data or operate with it, but if you continue to lie further, you know what awaits you.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The IJC spokesperson contacted by <em>The Register<\/em> declined to comment on the ransom demand or if the commission would pay.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"crosshead\">Who is NoEscape?<\/h3>\n<p>NoEscape is a ransomware-as-a-service operation that <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sentinelone.com\/anthology\/noescape\/\">appeared<\/a> in May and takes a double-extortion approach. That means instead of simply infecting victims&#8217; machines with malware, encrypting their files and demanding a ransom to release the data, the crooks first steal the files before locking them up. They threaten to leak the information, as well as withhold the decryption keys, if the victims don&#8217;t pay the ransom.<\/p>\n<p>NoEscape operators do not target organizations based in the former Soviet Union. This is a similar MO to other ransomware groups, such as the now-defunct Conti and Black Basta, which also avoid infecting Russian companies and government agencies.<\/p>\n<p>The gang is believed to be a rebrand of Avaddon \u2013 another ransomware crew that shut down and released its decryption keys in 2021, according to <em>Bleeping Computer<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>During its brief criminal tenure to date, NoEscape has extorted the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BrettCallow\/status\/1671171619354714115\">University of Hawaii<\/a>, which reportedly <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BrettCallow\/status\/1684635749843697664\">paid the ransom<\/a>; Italian technical consultancy <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FalconFeedsio\/status\/1688504299393847296\/photo\/1\">Kreacta<\/a>; Lithuania&#8217;s <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FalconFeedsio\/status\/1688504299393847296\/photo\/2\">Republican Vilnius Psychiatric Hospital<\/a>; and Taiwanese electronic connector manufacturing company <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FalconFeedsio\/status\/1688504299393847296\/photo\/3\">Avertronics<\/a>, among others. \u00ae &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p> READ MORE <a
