According to the internal investigation, Microsoft said Storm-0558 gained access to users\u2019 emails by forging authentication tokens to obtain Microsoft account consumer signing key.<\/p>\n<div class=\"sc-17kx9cd-5 kDVAgq js_ad-mobile-dynamic js_ad-dynamic ad-mobile-dynamic\">\n<div class=\"sc-17kx9cd-4 bNalOf ad-unit ad-mobile\">\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"sc-77igqf-0 fnnahv\">\u201cOfficials immediately contacted Microsoft to find the source and vulnerability in their cloud service,\u201d National Security Council spokesman Adam Hodges told <span><a class=\"sc-1out364-0 dPMosf sc-145m8ut-0 jCErAQ js_link\" data-ga=\"[[&quot;Embedded Url&quot;,&quot;External link&quot;,&quot;https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/national-security\/2023\/07\/12\/microsoft-hack-china\/&quot;,{&quot;metric25&quot;:1}]]\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/national-security\/2023\/07\/12\/microsoft-hack-china\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Washington Post<\/a><\/span>. \u201cWe continue to hold the procurement providers of the U.S. government to a high-security threshold.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-77igqf-0 fnnahv\">Microsoft said in its report that it has mitigated the threat and notified all organizations including government agencies that were affected, and said all activities by Storm-0558 have been blocked. cyber theft,\u201d Wang said. \u201cSince last year, the cybersecurity organizations of China and other countries have issued many reports exposing the cyberattacks on China by the U.S. Government over a long period of time, but the U.S. has not made a response so far,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-77igqf-0 fnnahv\">The cyberattack comes as the U.S. has tried to repair relations with
