ESET added that the threat actors rely primarily on Comm100 \u2014 which was first observed and documented by CrowdStrike \u2014 and LiveHelp apps.<\/p>\n<p>ESET outlined one particular <a href=\"https:\/\/www.welivesecurity.com\/2023\/05\/09\/eset-apt-activity-report-q42022-q12023\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ChattyGoblin attack<\/a> last March that used a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.darkreading.com\/operations\/threat-modeling-in-the-age-of-openai-s-chatbot\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">chatbot <\/a>to target a gambling company in the Philippines.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Written in C#, the initial dropper deployed by the attackers is named agentupdate_plugins.exe and was downloaded by the LiveHelp100 chat application,&#8221; ESET noted. &#8220;The dropper deploys a second C# executable based on the SharpUnhooker tool.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The SharpUnhooker tool then downloaded the ChattyGoblin attack&#8217;s second stage, stored in a password-protected ZIP archive, ESET added.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The final payload is a Cobalt Strike beacon using duckducklive[.]top as its C&amp;C server.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"articleFooter-newsletterSignup\" readability=\"10.473404255319\">\n<p>Keep up with the latest cybersecurity threats, newly-discovered vulnerabilities, data breach information, and emerging trends.
