In addition the company is expanding its family of Ion <a href=\"https:\/\/www.networkworld.com\/article\/3031279\/sd-wan-what-it-is-and-why-you-ll-use-it-one-day.html\">SD-WAN<\/a> security devices to provide additional configuration options.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"fakesidebar\">\n<aside class=\"fakesidebar\">\n<p>[ Get regularly scheduled insights by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.networkworld.com\/newsletters\/signup.html\">signing up for Network World newsletters<\/a>. ]<\/p>\n<\/aside>\n<\/aside>\n<p>Palo Alto <a href=\"https:\/\/www.networkworld.com\/article\/3633652\/palo-alto-shapes-sase-package-for-hybrid-enterprises.html\">introduced Prisma SASE last fall<\/a> to bring together the company\u2019s Prisma Access package of cloud-based, next-generation security gateways with its Prisma SD-WAN technology it got when <a href=\"https:\/\/www.networkworld.com\/article\/3535214\/palo-alto-grows-sd-wan-platform-by-snapping-up-cloudgenix-for-420m.html\">it bought CloudGenix<\/a> for $420 million in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Prisma SASE integrates zero-trust network access, advanced threat protection, and user-behavior monitoring. It also includes a secure web gateway, a cloud-access security broker (CASB), firewall-as-a-service (FWaaS), and SD-WAN technology.<\/p>\n<p>Prisma SASE also supports Palo Alto\u2019s Autonomous Digital Experience Management (ADEM) monitoring and management platform that gives visibility into endpoints, WAN links, cloud resources, applications, and traffic levels to help troubleshoot performance issues. It can provide end-to-end visibility from a single management console without&nbsp; additional agents or appliances.<\/p>\n<h2>More security features<\/h2>\n<p>New Prisma SASE features include the ability to control and monitor the security of SaaS applications by adding SaaS Security Posture Management (SSPM) to its CASB agent to spot cloud security issues such as system misconfigurations, unnecessary user accounts, excessive user permissions, and compliance risks. The idea is to provide a dashboard to more quickly fix problems and lock critical security settings in place.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"nativo-promo nativo-promo-1 smartphone\" id> <\/aside>\n<p>Prisma SASE upgrades also aim to improve its ability to learn threat patterns and to detect and stop unknown threats more quickly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLeveraging intelligence from our Wildfire and Advanced URL Filtering services, we\u2019ve created accurate and efficient ML models to stop zero-day threats with inline deep learning for Advanced Threat Protection, Advanced URL Filtering, and DNS Security,\u201d wrote Kumar Ramachandran, senior vice president of Palo Alto in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.paloaltonetworks.com\/blog\/2022\/08\/sase-leadership-with-next-gen-casb-innovations\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">blog<\/a> about the new features. \u201cThe result is that Prisma SASE can now prevent up to 95% of never-before-seen malware.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"nativo-promo nativo-promo-1 tablet desktop\" id> <\/aside>\n<p>The vendor also added AIOps for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.networkworld.com\/article\/3586127\/who-s-selling-sase-and-what-do-you-get.html\">SASE<\/a>, to help automate the gathering of root-cause analysis information to speed remediation of problems and to reduce trouble tickets.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPredictive analytics enable more efficient capacity planning and anomaly detection, preventing business disruptions,\u201d Ramachandran wrote. \u201cFormal verification can automate policy reasoning, ensuring continuous compliance and audit readiness. A query-based interface empowers the IT service desk with automated contextual troubleshooting and change analysis\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<h2>New branch-office hardware<\/h2>\n<p>In addition to the software upgrades, Palo expanded it\u2019s Ion family of hardware appliances to include two new branch-office devices, the ION 1200-S for small branches and ION 3200 mid-size offices.
