In other words: nothing, which many, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theregister.com\/2022\/06\/16\/bill_gates_nfts\/\">including Bill Gates<\/a>, consider a very foolish purchase indeed.<\/p>\n<p>OpenSea claims to be the <a href=\"https:\/\/opensea.io\/about\" rel=\"nofollow\">largest<\/a> NFT marketplace, and it boasts a transaction volume of over $20 billion and more than 600,000 users, all of which presumably provided their email addresses at one point.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"adun\" data-pos=\"top\" data-raptor=\"falcon\" data-xsm=\",fluid,mpu,\" data-sm=\",fluid,mpu,\" data-md=\",fluid,mpu,\"> <noscript> <a href=\"https:\/\/pubads.g.doubleclick.net\/gampad\/jump?co=1&amp;iu=\/6978\/reg_security\/cybercrime&amp;sz=300x50%7C300x100%7C300x250%7C300x251%7C300x252%7C300x600%7C300x601&amp;tile=4&amp;c=44Yr5cxrMZtMH5VGXFP5ueZgAAABE&amp;t=ct%3Dns%26unitnum%3D4%26raptor%3Dfalcon%26pos%3Dmid%26test%3D0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pubads.g.doubleclick.net\/gampad\/ad?co=1&amp;iu=\/6978\/reg_security\/cybercrime&amp;sz=300x50%7C300x100%7C300x250%7C300x251%7C300x252%7C300x600%7C300x601&amp;tile=4&amp;c=44Yr5cxrMZtMH5VGXFP5ueZgAAABE&amp;t=ct%3Dns%26unitnum%3D426raptor%3Dfalcon%26pos%3Dmid%26test%3D0\" alt> <\/a> <\/noscript> <\/div>\n<p>Plus, there&#8217;s likely more that simply subscribed to the online bazaar&#8217;s email list.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are working with Customer.io in their ongoing investigation, and we have reported this incident to law enforcement,&#8221; Hardman said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Because the data compromise included email addresses, there may be a heightened likelihood for email phishing attempts,&#8221; he added, with some example phishing email domains tossed overboard for good measure.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>To wit: opensae[.]io, opensea[.]org, and opensea[.]xyz would be bad domains. Don&#8217;t trust them, and certainly don&#8217;t click on any URLs sent from them or otherwise engage with these email domains.<\/p>\n<p>OpenSea only sends emails from opensea.io, and these messages never include attachments or requests for users to download anything, Hardman noted. Also \u2014 and this advice basically applies to all aspects of life \u2014 never share or confirm passwords or secret wallet phrases when asked to do so by an out-of-the-blue email, he added. alt> <\/a> <\/noscript> <\/div>\n<p>The digital market&#8217;s privacy breach follows another embarrassing incident for the company that happened earlier this month, when its now-former product boss was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theregister.com\/2022\/06\/02\/opensea_nft_arrest\/\">arrested and charged<\/a> with wire fraud and money laundering in the first-ever alleged insider-trading case involving the digital tokens.<\/p>\n<p>Nathaniel Chastain, 31, was employed at OpenSea from January to September 2021.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>He resigned from his position as head of product after his employers learned he was secretly purchasing, using anonymous accounts, numerous NFTs of cartoon images and artwork knowing the content was about to be featured on OpenSea&#8217;s marketplace,
