Roskomnadzor is the agency that has in recent days <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vice.com\/en\/article\/akva3g\/russia-says-it-will-block-facebook\">announced a block of Facebook<\/a> and other websites in the country as the war in Ukraine intensifies.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span><\/p>\n<div class=\"adph adph--border\">\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><\/span><span class=\"abc__textblock size--article\" data-component=\"TextBlock\" readability=\"29\"><\/p>\n<p>Specifically, Distributed Denial of Secrets says the data comes from the Roskomnadzor of the Republic of Bashkortostan. The Republic of Bashkortostan is in the west of the country.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote data-component=\"QuoteBlock\" class=\"abc__quote abc__quote--blockquote\" readability=\"9.2578125\">\n<p><em><strong>Do you know about any other hacking incidents around the Ukraine invasion? Using a non-work phone or computer, you can contact Joseph Cox securely on Signal on +44 20 8133 5190, Wickr on josephcox, or email<\/strong><\/em>&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:joseph.cox@vice.com\">joseph.cox@vice.com<\/a><em><strong>.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span class=\"abc__textblock size--article\" data-component=\"TextBlock\" readability=\"27\"><\/p>\n<p>Motherboard found references to the Republic of Bashkortostan in some of the released files.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span class=\"abc__textblock size--article\" data-component=\"TextBlock\" readability=\"26.657980456026\"><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAppears genuine but I cannot vouch all of them of course,\u201d Andrei Soldatov, a Russian journalist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vice.com\/en\/article\/gvyzn4\/how-putin-tried-to-control-the-internet\">who has extensively covered Russia\u2019s censorship apparatus<\/a>, told Motherboard in an online message after reviewing a small subsection of the files. \u201cRight now I don\u2019t see anything really surprising.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span class=\"abc__textblock size--article\" data-component=\"TextBlock\" readability=\"32\"><\/p>\n<p>The data is split into two main categories: a series of over 360,000 files totalling in at 526.9GB and which date up to as recently as March 5, and then two databases that are 290.6GB in size, according to Distributed Denial of Secrets\u2019 website.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span class=\"abc__textblock size--article\" data-component=\"TextBlock\" readability=\"33\"><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will soon be releasing the raw data while we look for solutions to extracting the data. One appears to be a legal research database that was, according to the file timestamp, last modified in 2020.
