Although the overall impact of such hacks <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vice.com\/en\/article\/k7wx4n\/hacking-war-and-cyberwar-in-ukraine\">seems limited at the moment<\/a>, a slew of groups and individuals have claimed compromises of Russian targets over the past several days.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span><\/p>\n<div class=\"adph adph--border\">\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><\/span><span class=\"abc__textblock size--article\" data-component=\"TextBlock\" readability=\"24.103896103896\"><\/p>\n<p>\u201cHeyyy Russian [homophobic slur].. Sorry.. Cosmonauts ??.. idk what to say, go get a nice website instead of threatening people with ISS, heard??\u201d a <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20220303052232\/http:\/\/uv.ikiweb.ru\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">message left on a section of the IKI-related site reads<\/a>. The mention of the ISS is likely referring to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/russia-casts-doubt-on-future-participation-in-international-space-station-11646226056\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recent comments from Russian authorities<\/a> around the possibility of pulling out from operation of the International Space Station.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span class=\"abc__textblock size--article\" data-component=\"TextBlock\" readability=\"28\"><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlso leave Ukraine alone else Anonymous will f*ck you up even more :))\u201d the message added. The hackers that claimed responsibility for the compromise called themselves v0g3lsec on Twitter.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote data-component=\"QuoteBlock\" class=\"abc__quote abc__quote--blockquote\" readability=\"9.2213114754098\">\n<p><em><strong>Do you know about any other hacks around the Ukraine invasion? Other subdomains, such as <a href=\"http:\/\/ofo.ikiweb.ru\/about.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">one belonging to IKI\u2019s Department of Optical and Physical Research<\/a>, remain accessible.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span class=\"abc__textblock size--article\" data-component=\"TextBlock\" readability=\"35\"><\/p>\n<p>V0g3lsec also posted a selection of what it claimed were files taken from the Roscosmos, Russia\u2019s overall Space Agency, which is a different organization to the one they compromised the website of. The files are a combination of handwritten forms, PDFs, and spreadsheets in a mix of Russian and English talking specifically about lunar missions, according to Motherboard\u2019s review of the files.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span><\/p>\n<div class=\"adph adph--border\">\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><\/span><span class=\"abc__textblock size--article\" data-component=\"TextBlock\" readability=\"31\"><\/p>\n<p>V0g3lsec told Motherboard in an online chat that \u201cthey were using their own file sharing service where the files could be access only by providing a username &amp; password.. all i did was bruteforcing the password while keeping the username as \u2018admin\u2019.. as they were using a weak password, it didnt take much time for me to get the password.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span class=\"abc__textblock size--article\" data-component=\"TextBlock\" readability=\"25.444444444444\"><\/p>\n<p>One of the documents discusses the location of potential landing sites for lunar spacecraft on the Moon&#8217;s South Pole. Russian authorities have already <a href=\"https:\/\/nssdc.gsfc.nasa.gov\/nmc\/spacecraft\/display.action?id=LUNA-25\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced their South Pole sites, however<\/a>. Motherboard could not immediately verify the legitimacy of the leaked files.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span class=\"abc__textblock size--article\" data-component=\"TextBlock\" readability=\"27\"><\/p>\n<p>IKI did not immediately respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span class=\"abc__textblock size--article\" data-component=\"TextBlock\" readability=\"26.980099502488\"><\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, Twitter users shared a separate unverified claim on Twitter from another alleged hacking group <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/xxNB65\/status\/1498563301525102594\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">which suggested it had targeted a \u201cVehicle Monitoring System.\u201d<\/a> Seemingly in response, Roscosmos head Dmitry Rogozin denied that Russian satellite control centres had been hacked, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/russia-space-agency-head-says-satellite-hacking-would-justify-war-report-2022-03-02\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">and told Interfax<\/a> that \u201cOfflining the satellites of any country is actually a casus belli, a cause for war.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span class=\"abc__textblock size--article\" data-component=\"TextBlock\" readability=\"27\"><\/p>\n<p>The new website compromise in no way indicates a hack of space satellites.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span class=\"abc__textblock size--article\" data-component=\"TextBlock\" readability=\"27\"><\/p>\n<p><em>Becky Ferreira contributed reporting.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><\/span><span class=\"abc__textblock size--article\" data-component=\"TextBlock\" readability=\"27\"><\/p>\n<p><em>Update: This piece has been updated to include comment from V0g3lsec<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span class=\"abc__textblock size--article\" data-component=\"TextBlock\" readability=\"19.105882352941\"><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Subscribe to our cybersecurity podcast,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/gb\/podcast\/cyber\/id1441708044?mt=2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CYBER<\/a>.
