The scholarship will be awarded to an individual who identifies as Black and\/or African American and is studying a STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) subject in an effort to increase diversity in the cyber and information security fields.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants must meet the below qualifications:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be a graduating high school senior.<\/li>\n<li>Verify acceptance into an eligible degree program in a STEM related field (including but not limited to computer science, electrical engineering, math, etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Minimum cumulative high school GPA is 3.5 on 4.0 scale.\n<ul>\n<li><em>Must maintain a cumulative undergrad GPA of at least 3.2 on 4.0 scale to remain eligible for the scholarship over the course of four years.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Be planning a career in cybersecurity\/information security.<\/li>\n<li>Complete the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.optiv.com\/sites\/default\/files\/2020-10\/Internal_BEN_Scholarship_V9_102220.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">scholarship application<\/a> including a one-page essay and two letters of reference.<\/li>\n<li>Identify as Black and\/or African American (African, African American, Caribbean, for example) and a U.S. Citizen, U.S. national or permanent resident.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply <a referrerpolicy=\"unsafe-url\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/cts.businesswire.com\/ct\/CT?id=smartlink&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.optiv.com%2Fexplore-optiv-insights%2Fpress-releases%2Foptiv-announces-40000-scholarships-black-african-american&amp;esheet=52318816&amp;newsitemid=20201102005774&amp;lan=en-US&amp;anchor=here&amp;index=2&amp;md5=a3445a84fc17623ed0e7e950a6e0a329\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" shape=\"rect\">here<\/a>.
