{"id":43364,"date":"2021-10-12T16:00:33","date_gmt":"2021-10-12T16:00:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/security\/blog\/?p=98469"},"modified":"2021-10-12T16:00:33","modified_gmt":"2021-10-12T16:00:33","slug":"azure-network-security-helps-reduce-cost-and-risk-according-to-forrester-tei-study","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.threatshub.org\/blog\/azure-network-security-helps-reduce-cost-and-risk-according-to-forrester-tei-study\/","title":{"rendered":"Azure network security helps reduce cost and risk according to Forrester TEI study"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As organizations move their computing from on-premises to the cloud, they realize that leveraging cloud-native security tools can provide additional cost savings and business benefits to their security infrastructure. <a href=\"https:\/\/azure.microsoft.com\/en-us\/solutions\/network-security\/#overview\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Microsoft Azure network security<\/a> offers a suite of cloud-native security tools to protect Azure workloads while automating network management, implementing developer security operations (DevSecOps) practices, and reducing the risk of a material security breach.<\/p>\n<p>We are excited to share that Forrester Consulting has just conducted a commissioned <a href=\"https:\/\/tools.totaleconomicimpact.com\/go\/microsoft\/AzureNetworkSecurity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Total Economic Impact\u2122 (TEI) study<\/a> on behalf of Microsoft, which involved interviewing existing customers who have deployed Azure network security. This study also provides organizations with a framework for evaluating the financial impact on their organizations.<\/p>\n<p>The Forrester study concluded that a composite organization experienced benefits of $2.23 million over three years versus costs of $840.3 thousand, adding up to a net present value (NPV) of $1.39 million and a return on investment (ROI) of 165 percent. The study shows that Azure network security delivers:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Increased speed of delivering development projects by one month or 67 percent.<\/li>\n<li>Reduced total cost of on-premises security tools by 25 percent.<\/li>\n<li>Reduced risk of a security breach of 30 percent.<\/li>\n<li>Improved efficiency of network-related IT work by 73 percent.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The study concluded that the composite organization reduced their total cost of ownership related to security infrastructure, established DevSecOps processes, reduced their risk of material security breaches, and reduced the burden on IT to manage networks and upgrades, allowing these teams to focus on more strategic workstreams.<\/p>\n<h2>Productivity gains with Azure network security<\/h2>\n<p>Azure network security enabled organizations to implement infrastructure-as-code practices, incorporating security directly into application development workflows, speeding development, and time-to-market of applications. We have given the application team more reach, where in our on-premises data centers, it was difficult to get access to security appliances with different teams doing different workstreams. With Azure, we\u2019re able to use Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates.\u201d<\/em>\u2013Chief solutions architect, technology.<\/p>\n<h2>Cost savings<\/h2>\n<p>Organizations reduced their total cost of ownership of on-premises security tools by 25 percent when protecting 20 percent of their organization\u2019s total computing with Azure network security.
