He continued to splutter: &#8220;Frankly, that tells you the level of security and the priority we&#8217;re giving to democracy in the United Kingdom.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Tugendhat has been outspoken on China\u2019s treatment of the Uighur minority ethnic group, which has been subjected to concentration camps branded &#8220;reeducation&#8221; camps. In the eyes of the Middle Kingdom\u2019s ruling Communist Party, Tugendhat\u2019s Foreign Affairs Committee has sinned by launching \u201cunreasonable inquiries into Xinjiang affairs citing \u2018forced labor\u2019 and is behind many foreign policies coercing China over Xinjiang.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Yet today\u2019s email security outburst prompted officials to start wagging their fingers at Tugendhat after he suggested using Google\u2019s email service.<\/p>\n<p>A Parliamentary spokesperson said in a statement: &#8220;We have robust cybersecurity measures in place and work closely with partners in the National Cyber Security Centre. In line with guidance from the NCSC we would always encourage MPs to use parliamentary email, which offers significantly higher levels of security than external providers.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>An email was sent around Parliament purporting to have proceeded from the parliamentarian himself, proffering his resignation from the Foreign Affairs committee.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" readability=\"5.1616161616162\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Unbelievable. Origin unknown&#8230; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/AxeXTJYU3i\">pic.twitter.com\/AxeXTJYU3i<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Alistair Bunkall (@AliBunkallSKY) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AliBunkallSKY\/status\/1380456998949548032?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 9, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The House of Commons\u2019 spokeswoman added that the above email was sent from an AOL account impersonating Tugendhat and not from an official account.<\/p>\n<p>GCHQ declined to comment, referring us to its NCSC offshoot. A spokesman for that told us: &#8220;The NCSC works closely with the Parliamentary Digital Service who make use of the NCSC\u2019s cyber security guidance, support and Active Cyber Defence services.
