We encourage network owners to patch ASAP: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Q2K4DYWQud\">https:\/\/t.co\/Q2K4DYWQud<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Jake Sullivan (@JakeSullivan46) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JakeSullivan46\/status\/1367660450855477256?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 5, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The matter even made it to the White House briefing room. In last <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=pMRT5U2U7J4\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Friday&#8217;s White House briefing<\/a>, White House press secretary, Jen Psaki called the Microsoft breach \u201ca significant vulnerability that could have far reaching impacts\u201d and \u201can active threat.\u201d She referred to Sullivan\u2019s tweet and urged those running affected servers to patch them immediately, specifically government, private sector, and academia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency issued an emergency directive to agencies and we&#8217;re now looking closely at the next steps we need to take,\u201d added Psaki, who declined to give further details on how or to what degree the government\u2019s infrastructure was affected.<\/p>\n<p>On March 7, the US National Security Council tweeted that patching and mitigation was not enough to protect vulnerable systems.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" readability=\"6.1486486486486\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Patching and mitigation is not remediation if the servers have already been compromised. It is essential that any organization with a vulnerable server take immediate measures to determine if they were already targeted. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/HYKF2lA7sn\">https:\/\/t.co\/HYKF2lA7sn<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 National Security Council (@WHNSC) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WHNSC\/status\/1368275202883411975?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 6, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Microsoft, meanwhile, has issued additional <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/msrc-blog.microsoft.com\/2021\/03\/05\/microsoft-exchange-server-vulnerabilities-mitigations-march-2021\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">mitigation advice<\/a> for those unable to patch Exchange Server.<\/p>\n<p>With 30,000 US-based Exchange users thought to have been targeted by whoever was behind Hafnium, and 250,000 impacted globally, reports are <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/edition.cnn.com\/2021\/03\/06\/politics\/microsoft-hack-task-force\/index.html\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">suggesting<\/a> the Biden administration will create a task force to address the Hafnium attack and its aftermath.<\/p>\n<div class=\"promo_article\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/regmedia.co.uk\/2021\/02\/22\/china.jpg?x=174&amp;amp;y=115&amp;amp;crop=1\" width=\"174\" height=\"115\" alt=\"china\"><\/p>\n<h2 title=\"Check Point says Beijing 'reconstructed' Equation Group's hacking tool long before leak\">The perils of non-disclosure? foreign hacking.<\/p>\n<p>The chief software architect of Chinese anti-virus company Antiy Labs, Xiao Xinguang, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.globaltimes.cn\/page\/202103\/1217626.shtml\"
