That version was made available on January 20, 2021, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/software.cisco.com\/download\/home\/286316476\/type\/282465789\/release\/1.0.01.02\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>, to fix these security holes, which score 9.8 out of 10 in CVSS severity.<\/p>\n<p>The models mentioned above have another two flaws \u2013 CVE-2021-1296 and CVE-2021-1297 \u2013 that can be abused to \u201callow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to conduct directory traversal attacks and overwrite certain files that should be restricted on an affected system.\u201d They are detailed <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/tools.cisco.com\/security\/center\/content\/CiscoSecurityAdvisory\/cisco-sa-rv160-260-filewrite-7x9mnKjn\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a> and have a CVSS rating of 7.5\/10.<\/p>\n<div class=\"promo_article\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/regmedia.co.uk\/2015\/02\/02\/tree_stop_sign_teaser.jpg?x=174&amp;y=115&amp;crop=1\" width=\"174\" height=\"115\" alt=\"Stop sign in front of a bush. Models RV016, RV042, RV042G, RV082, RV320, and RV325 have holes \u2013 CVE-2021-1319 to CVE-2021-1348 inclusive \u2013 that again relate to improper validation of input to the web interface. The bugs explained <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/tools.cisco.com\/security\/center\/content\/CiscoSecurityAdvisory\/cisco-sa-rv-overflow-ghZP68yj\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a> are rated a 7.2, and aren&#8217;t too serious. They can be exploited by an authenticated admin user to crash the device or execute commands on the host OS as root.<\/p>\n<p>The same goes for <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/tools.cisco.com\/security\/center\/content\/CiscoSecurityAdvisory\/cisco-sa-rv-command-inject-BY4c5zd\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">these bugs<\/a> \u2013 CVE-2021-1314 to CVE-2021-1318 \u2013 again related to bad HTTP handling.<\/p>\n<p>Software upgrades are available to fix the issues. RV0XX devices with firmware version 4.2.3.14 or earlier need the fix, as do RV32X devices running 1.5.1.11 and earlier.<\/p>\n<p>Small businesses \u2013 especially those without IT staff or contractors \u2013 are notoriously bad at managing devices. So it\u2019s likely most of the RV16-and-26-series devices out there have not been updated.
