In an <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theregister.com\/2020\/04\/30\/red_hat_ceo_interview_ibm\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">interview with <i>The Register<\/i><\/a> last year, new CEO Paul Cormier said : &#8220;In terms of IBM and our strategy, we do our own things.&#8221; Those things clearly include bolstering the company&#8217;s enterprise Kubernetes platform with StackRox&#8217;s security.<\/p>\n<p>StackRox was founded in 2014 and supports multiple Kubernetes platforms, including Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS), Microsoft Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), and Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE). There are currently no plans to drop that support as StackRox dons its very own fedora.<\/p>\n<p>While Red Hat has yet to confirm timelines, its customers will benefit from the monitoring, configuration management, and threat detection capabilities of the StackRox product. Furthermore, Red Hat has also said it plans to open-source StackRox&#8217;s technology at some point after the deal is closed.<\/p>\n<p>Emphasising the security aspect of the deal, Cormier praised the Kubernetes-native capabilities of StackRox, &#8220;furthering our mission to bring product-ready open innovation to every organization across the open hybrid cloud across IT footprints.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Kamal Shah, StackRox CEO, said the move will couple the &#8220;industry&#8217;s first Kubernetes-native security platform with the leading Kubernetes platform for hybrid cloud, multicloud, and edge deployments.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div class=\"adun\" data-pos=\"top\" data-raptor=\"falcon\" data-xsm=\",button,dbutton,mpu_plus,dmpu,\" data-sm=\",button,dbutton,mpu_plus,dmpu,\"> <noscript> <a href=\"https:\/\/pubads.g.doubleclick.net\/gampad\/jump?co=1&amp;iu=\/6978\/reg_security\/front&amp;sz=300x100%7C300x250%7C300x251&amp;tile=4&amp;c=44X-mF58GotySHdBV@qJTjvQAAABA&amp;t=ct%3Dns%26unitnum%3D4%26raptor%3Dfalcon%26pos%3Dmid%26test%3D0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pubads.g.doubleclick.net\/gampad\/ad?co=1&amp;iu=\/6978\/reg_security\/front&amp;sz=300x100%7C300x250%7C300x251&amp;tile=4&amp;c=44X-mF58GotySHdBV@qJTjvQAAABA&amp;t=ct%3Dns%26unitnum%3D426raptor%3Dfalcon%26pos%3Dmid%26test%3D0\" alt> <\/a> <\/noscript> <\/div>\n<p>The company decided to focus exclusively on Kubernetes two and a half years ago, <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.stackrox.com\/post\/2021\/01\/red-hat-to-acquire-stackrox\/\">according to a its CEO<\/a>.
