The promise of Azure Arc is providing the simplicity of the cloud control plane inside the data center. A year after announcement with the core platform now going GA, we thought it would be a good time for a deeper dive to see how Azure Arc actually works.<\/p>\n

Microsoft is rebuilding its Microsoft Stream video service over the next several months and will be moving it to use SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business for storing and managing videos across Microsoft 365.<\/p>\n

Microsoft is working on a new sync technology codenamed ‘Project Nucleus’ that officials think could go beyond Progressive Web Apps for certain scenarios, including offline content sync.<\/p>\n

Project Holographic Storage Device works on new holographic storage device for ‘warm’ data in the cloud.<\/p>\n

New perpetual Office clients for Windows and Mac, as well as on-premises versions of Exchange, SharePoint and Skype for Business are coming in the second half of next year.<\/p>\n

Microsoft is adding three new edge-computing devices and moving ahead, with various Azure-branded services that are part of its hybrid-cloud family.<\/p>\n

Microsoft’s Azure Communication Services (ACS) will give customers and partners access to the same voice, video, chat and texting services that Microsoft uses to power Teams.<\/p>\n

Project Cortex is going to be delivered as a number of add-ons to existing Microsoft products, starting with SharePoint. The change in strategy is the result of ‘user feedback,’ Microsoft execs say.<\/p>\n

The wait is over: Microsoft’s ‘Chredge’ browser will be available to Insider testers in preview starting in October.<\/p>\n
