When failing to open, the bug triggers the error message &#8216;ERROR_VSMB_SAVED_STATE_FILE_NOT_FOUND (0xC0370400)&#8217; or &#8216;E_PATHNOTFOUND (0x80070003)&#8217;.<\/p>\n<div class=\"relatedContent alignRight\">\n<h3 class=\"heading\"> <span class=\"int\">Windows 10<\/span> <\/h3>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Windows Sandbox is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zdnet.com\/article\/microsoft-officially-announces-windows-sandbox-for-running-applications-in-isolation\/\">relatively new feature of Windows 10 Pro and Enterprise editions<\/a> since version 1903 that lets users launch a virtual machine with a basic version of Windows 10 to run potentially suspicious software without the risk of it affecting the main Windows 10 installation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The feature has proved popular with IT pros because of its ability to safely run potentially risky executables in a container, and Microsoft included <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zdnet.com\/article\/all-the-security-features-added-in-the-windows-10-may-2020-update\/\">several improvements to Windows Sandbox in Windows 10 version 2004<\/a>.&nbsp; &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Windows Defender Application Guard (WDAG) is also a relative newcomer in Windows 10 Pro and Enterprise editions that admins can use to create a list of trusted websites and local resources.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>WDAG comes into play when users access a URL outside that list. It launches Microsoft Edge in a Hyper-V container to keep the browser isolated from the operating system. Microsoft <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zdnet.com\/article\/microsoft-releases-application-guard-extension-for-chrome-and-firefox\/\">released WDAG extensions for Chrome and Firefox last year<\/a>.&nbsp; &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;To mitigate this issue after receiving one of the above error messages, you will need to restart your device,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/help\/4575917\/receiving-an-error-message-when-attempting-to-open-windows-defender-ap\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-component=\"externalLink\">Microsoft explains in a support note<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<section class=\"sharethrough-top\" data-component=\"medusaContentRecommendation\" data-medusa-content-recommendation-options=\"{&quot;promo&quot;:&quot;promo_zd_recommendation_sharethrough_top_in_article_desktop&quot;,&quot;spot&quot;:&quot;dfp-in-article&quot;}\"> <\/section>\n<p>Microsoft plans on addressing the bug in an upcoming release of Windows 10. However it hasn&#8217;t said when the fix is expected to arrive.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The company hasn&#8217;t listed the issue on its Windows release health dashboard for any of the affected versions, which may be because there is a simple workaround.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bleepingcomputer.com\/news\/microsoft\/microsoft-working-on-a-fix-for-windows-10-sandbox-failing-to-open\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" data-component=\"externalLink\">As Bleeping Computer notes<\/a>, a similar issue affected Windows Sandbox on Windows 10 Insider previews last
