{"id":3494,"date":"2018-06-18T11:01:04","date_gmt":"2018-06-18T11:01:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.threatshub.org\/blog\/us-cert-warns-of-more-north-korean-malware\/"},"modified":"2018-06-18T11:01:04","modified_gmt":"2018-06-18T11:01:04","slug":"us-cert-warns-of-more-north-korean-malware","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.threatshub.org\/blog\/us-cert-warns-of-more-north-korean-malware\/","title":{"rendered":"US-CERT warns of more North Korean malware"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The United States Department of Homeland Security&#8217;s Computer Emergency Response Team (US-CERT) has warned against another malware campaign it says originates from North Korea.<\/p>\n<p>In its <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.us-cert.gov\/ncas\/analysis-reports\/AR18-165A\">advisory<\/a>, US-CERT said the \u201cTypeframe\u201d malware \u201cincludes malware descriptions related to HIDDEN COBRA\u201d, the tag applied to a North Korean hacking team which in June 2017 was <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theregister.co.uk\/2017\/06\/14\/north_korean_hidden_cobra_to_strike\/\">pinged<\/a> as attacking \u201cmedia, aerospace, financial, and critical infrastructure\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The advisory doesn&#8217;t say how many machines may have been infected by Typeframe, nor where infections occurred.<\/p>\n<div class=\"promo_article\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/regmedia.co.uk\/2017\/06\/14\/kim_jong_un.jpg?x=174&amp;y=115&amp;crop=1\" width=\"174\" height=\"115\" alt=\"Kim Jong Un\"\/><\/p>\n<h2 title=\"DeltaCharlie malware aimed at American biz, we're told\">Crouching cyber, Hidden Cobra: Crack North Korean hack team ready to strike, says US-CERT<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theregister.co.uk\/2017\/06\/14\/north_korean_hidden_cobra_to_strike\/\"><span>READ MORE<\/span><\/a><\/div>\n<p>Hidden Cobra has been busy recently: at the end of May, it was the subject of another US-CERT <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theregister.co.uk\/2018\/05\/30\/north_korea_joanap_and_brambul_malware\/\">technical alert<\/a> regarding the Joanap and Brambul malware strains, and last week we reported that the hacking group&#8217;s tools were spotted in an attack on <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theregister.co.uk\/2018\/06\/11\/chile_bank_wiper_prelude_cyberheaist\/\">Banco de Chile<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The latest advisory includes 11 samples in the Typeframe campaign. Most are simple Windows 32-bit and 64-bit remote access trojans with RC4-encrypted configuration files, but some add more sophisticated backdoors. Most were compiled in 2016 and 2017, but one venerable example in the list was put together in 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Command and control IP addresses in the campaign include 111.207.78.204, 181.119.19.56, 184.107.209.2, 59.90.93.97, 80.91.118.45, 81.0.213.173, and 98.101.211.162.
