An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending a malicious file to an affected vContainer instance,\u201d Cisco stated.<\/p>\n<p>The twist here is that customer must request the fix from Cisco to get it. \u201cThere is no fixed software for Cisco customers to download and deploy for this vulnerability. Customers must engage their Cisco support contact to ensure the deployment of the latest software fix.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>{<strong>UPDATE:<\/strong> Cisco says it has updated this advisory to let customers know the fixed software has already been deployed by Cisco for this vulnerability. There is no action customers need to take. <a href=\"https:\/\/tools.cisco.com\/security\/center\/content\/CiscoSecurityAdvisory\/cisco-sa-20190123-sdwan-bo\" rel=\"nofollow\">Cisco SD-WAN Solution Buffer Overflow Vulnerability<\/a> (CVE-2019-1651) <a href=\"https:\/\/tools.cisco.com\/security\/center\/content\/CiscoSecurityAdvisory\/cisco-sa-20190123-sdwan-unaccess\" rel=\"nofollow\">Cisco SD-WAN Solution Unauthorized Access Vulnerability<\/a> (CVE-2019-1647).]<\/p>\n<aside class=\"nativo-promo nativo-promo-1 smartphone\" id=\"\"\/>\n<p>The second SD-WAN-related patch is again for Cisco SD-WAN Solution software. The \u201cHigh\u201d impact alert that could let an authenticated, remote attacker to overwrite arbitrary files on the underlying operating system of an affected device. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by modifying the \u201csave<strong>\u201d<\/strong> command in the Command Line Interface (CLI) of an affected device. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to overwrite arbitrary files on the underlying operating system of an affected device and escalate their privileges to the <em>root<\/em> user, Cisco wrote in <a href=\"https:\/\/tools.cisco.com\/security\/center\/content\/CiscoSecurityAdvisory\/cisco-sa-20190123-sdwan-file-write\" rel=\"nofollow\">its security advisory<\/a>.<\/p>\n<aside id=\"fsb-2599\" class=\"fakesidebar fakesidebar-auto fakesidebar-sponsored\"><strong>[ <a href=\"https:\/\/pluralsight.pxf.io\/c\/321564\/424552\/7490?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.pluralsight.com%2Fpaths%2Fcertified-information-systems-security-professional-cisspr\" rel=\"nofollow\">Prepare to become a Certified Information Security Systems Professional with this comprehensive online course from PluralSight. Now offering a 10-day free trial!<\/a> ]<\/strong><\/aside>\n<p>The weakness impacts the following Cisco products running a release of the Cisco SD-WAN Solution prior to Release 18.4.0:<\/p>\n<aside class=\"nativo-promo nativo-promo-1 tablet desktop\" id=\"\"\/>\n<ul>\n<li>vBond Orchestrator Software<\/li>\n<li>vEdge 100 Series Routers<\/li>\n<li>vEdge 1000 Series Routers<\/li>\n<li>vEdge 2000 Series Routers<\/li>\n<li>vEdge 5000 Series Routers<\/li>\n<li>vEdge Cloud Router Platform<\/li>\n<li>vManage Network Management Software<\/li>\n<li>vSmart Controller Software<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A third security weakness affecting the same group of SD-WAN Solution products could let an authenticated, local attacker gain <em>root<\/em>-level privileges and take full control of the device.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe vulnerability is due to a failure to properly validate certain parameters included within the group configuration. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by writing a crafted file to the directory where the user group configuration is located in the underlying operating system,\u201d Cisco <a href=\"https:\/\/tools.cisco.com\/security\/center\/content\/CiscoSecurityAdvisory\/cisco-sa-20190123-sdwan-sol-escal\" rel=\"nofollow\">wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Also, in that same group of products, Cisco warned of \u201cmultiple\u201d vulnerabilities in the local CLI of the Cisco\u00a0SD-WAN Solution could let an authenticated, local attacker to escalate privileges and modify device configuration files. The attacker could then use the elevated privileges to further compromise the device or obtain additional configuration data from the device, Cisco <a href=\"https:\/\/tools.cisco.com\/security\/center\/content\/CiscoSecurityAdvisory\/cisco-sa-20190123-sdwan-escal\" rel=\"nofollow\">wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe vulnerabilities exist because user input is not properly sanitized for certain commands at the CLI. An attacker could exploit these vulnerabilities by sending crafted commands to the CLI of an affected device,\u201d Cisco stated.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"nativo-promo nativo-promo-2 tablet desktop smartphone\" id=\"\"\/>\n<p>Cisco says there are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cisco.com\/c\/en\/us\/about\/legal\/cloud-and-software\/end_user_license_agreement.html\" rel=\"nofollow\">free updates available<\/a> to fix the three high-priority SD-WAN vulnerabilities. Cisco Product Security Incident Response Team said it wasn\u2019t aware of any actual malicious use of the vulnerabilities.<\/p>\n<p>The SD-WAN security problems were part of 23 flaws Cisco announced on Jan. 23. Others included vulnerabilities in <a href=\"https:\/\/tools.cisco.com\/security\/center\/content\/CiscoSecurityAdvisory\/cisco-sa-20190123-webex-rce\" rel=\"nofollow\">Cisco WebEx<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/tools.cisco.com\/security\/center\/content\/CiscoSecurityAdvisory\/cisco-sa-20190123-firepowertds-bypass\" rel=\"nofollow\">FirePower<\/a> firewalls.<\/p>\n<div
