Duo\u2019s cloud-delivered technology lets IT professionals set and enforce risk-based, adaptive access policies and get enhanced visibility into users\u2019 devices and activities.\u00a0 As more devices come onto the network remotely this issue takes on more importance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOutdated devices are particularly vulnerable to being compromised, which can easily spiral into a full-blown, major breach,\u201d wrote <a href=\"https:\/\/duo.com\/about\/press\/releases\/nearly-60-of-security-leaders-view-personal-devices-as-the-biggest-remote-it-threat-duo-security-finds\" rel=\"nofollow\">Richard Archdeacon, Duo Advisory CISO<\/a> about a recent Duo study on remote access security.\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cOrganizations don\u2019t necessarily need to block individuals from using their personal devices, but they do need to re-shape their security models to fit these evolving working practices\u2026If you don\u2019t know what\u2019s connecting to the network, how can you protect data from being compromised? \u201c<\/p>\n<aside id=\"fsb-2012\" class=\"fakesidebar fakesidebar-auto\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.networkworld.com\/newsletters\/signup.html\">NEWSLETTERS: Get the latest tech news sent directly to your in-box<\/a><\/aside>\n<p>Duo in combination with products in Cisco\u2019s portfolio including Umbrella, Stealthwatch, ISE and Tetration will let Cisco to provide an end-to-end Zero Trust Architecture, <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.cisco.com\/news\/duoacquisitionclose\" rel=\"nofollow\">wrote \u00a0Gee Rittenhouse,<\/a> senior vice president of engineering for Cisco\u2019s Security Business Group in a blog about the Duo acquisition.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"nativo-promo nativo-promo-1 smartphone\" id=\"\"\/>\n<p>\u201cIntegrating our network, device and cloud security platforms with Duo\u2019s zero trust authentication and access products, Cisco\u2019s security architecture is equipped to address the complex challenges that stem from hybrid and multi-cloud environments in today\u2019s work environment,\u201d Rittenhouse wrote.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A few technical details of the deal include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cisco currently provides on-premises network access control via its Identity Services Engine (ISE) product. Duo&#8217;s software as a service-based (SaaS) model will be integrated with Cisco ISE to extend ISE to provide cloud-delivered application access control.<\/li>\n<li>By verifying user and device trust, Duo will add trusted identity awareness into Cisco&#8217;s Secure Internet Gateway, Cloud Access Security Broker, Enterprise Mobility Management, and several other cloud-delivered products.<\/li>\n<li>With Duo\u2019s Unified Endpoint Visibility, customers can see, track and report on all end user devices from a single dashboard. Duo&#8217;s user and device reports give admins actionable data on user behavior and risky devices.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.networkworld.com\/article\/3293024\/cloud-computing\/google-cisco-amp-up-enterprise-cloud-integration.html\">Cisco<\/a> said that Integration of its network, device and cloud security platforms with Duo Security\u2019s zero-trust authentication and access products will let customers to quickly secure users to any application on any networked device.<\/p>\n<aside id=\"fsb-2599\" class=\"fakesidebar fakesidebar-auto fakesidebar-sponsored\"><strong>[ <a href=\"https:\/\/pluralsight.pxf.io\/c\/321564\/424552\/7490?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.pluralsight.com%2Fpaths%2Fcertified-information-systems-security-professional-cisspr\" rel=\"nofollow\">Prepare to become a Certified Information Security Systems Professional with this comprehensive online course from PluralSight. Now offering a 10-day free trial!<\/a> ]<\/strong><\/aside>\n<p>The deal is Cisco\u2019s biggest since its $3.7-billion buy of performance monitoring software company AppDynamics in 2017, and its largest in the cyber security sector since its $2.7-billion Sourcefire acquisition in 2013. \u00a0Duo, founded in 2009, has about 700 employees working from offices in Ann Arbor, Mich.; Detroit, Austin, Texas; San Mateo, Calif. and London. \u00a0Cisco said it expects the deal to close in the first quarter of Cisco\u2019s fiscal year 2019.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"nativo-promo nativo-promo-1 tablet desktop\" id=\"\"\/>\n<p>According to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marketwatch.com\/story\/cisco-dances-with-duo-promises-235b-for-security-startup-2018-08-02\" rel=\"nofollow\">report from MarketWatch<\/a> Duo <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marketwatch.com\/press-release\/duo-security-delivers-135-annual-recurring-revenue-growth-and-brings-aboard-top-security-leaders-from-facebook-etsy-451-research-workday-and-more-2017-02-08\" rel=\"nofollow\">said in early 2017<\/a> that it had recorded $73 million in annual recurring revenue in 2016, growing that total 135% from the year before.
